James Gunn Confirms the Sequel
Director and DC Studios co-head James Gunn revealed the follow-up to 2025’s Superman. The sequel, titled Man of Tomorrow, will release in July 2027.

Gunn shared new artwork by Jim Lee, showing Superman alongside Lex Luthor. The image strongly hints that Luthor is preparing to take matters into his own hands.
Lex Luthor Steps Into the Fight
In the previous film, Luthor unleashed Ultraman to do his bidding. Now, however, the villain seems ready to suit up in the Warsuit.

In the comics, the armor allows him to battle Superman directly. This suggests that audiences will finally see Luthor trade blows with the Man of Steel himself, promising explosive action sequences.
Returning Heroes and Expanding the DCU
Soon after the announcement, Isabela Merced confirmed she will return as Hawkgirl. This hints at another wide-ranging ensemble cast, a signature James Gunn style.

Meanwhile, Superman (2025), starring David Corenswet, grossed more than $560 million worldwide. Warner Bros. Discovery had already teased that Gunn was writing the “next chapter of the Super-family,” and now the studio is moving forward quickly.
A Historic Superman Sequel
Man of Tomorrow will mark the first direct Superman sequel since 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Before its release, fans will also see Supergirl (2026) and the horror-driven Clayface film. With Luthor in his Warsuit and Superman stronger than ever, this sequel looks ready to define the future of the DCU.
