Developer 5th Column Studio has unveiled Kaidan, a new dark fantasy action game inspired by Japanese folklore and cosmic horror.
The title is set to launch on PC via Steam, though a release date has not yet been confirmed.
A Nightmare in Feudal Japan

In Kaidan, players become a Seeker, someone caught between life and death. After making a desperate pact with the Envoy, the Seeker returns to the land of Ikaiguchi, where terrifying Yokai now roam. These grotesque creatures have twisted reality, leaving the world in a nightmarish state.

The game mixes cinematic action with an “extraction-lite” system, giving players both single-player and multiplayer modes. Combat is bloody and brutal, with each encounter pushing players to face overwhelming odds against Yokai and larger-than-life bosses.
Gameplay and Setting

Kaidan is set in a dark fantasy vision of feudal Japan, layered with cosmic horror elements. The announcement trailer reveals chilling landscapes, horrifying Yokai, and brutal combat encounters. While gameplay details remain limited, the tone suggests a blend of survival, strategy, and fast-paced action.
Players must navigate the world of Ikaiguchi carefully, deciding when to fight and when to retreat. Every choice could mean the difference between survival and another descent into death’s grasp.
What’s Next for Kaidan?

Currently, Kaidan is only confirmed for PC via Steam. The developers have yet to announce a release window, so fans will need to stay tuned for more details.
