One Piece Unveils Spinoff Anime Starring Its Heroines

The One Piece franchise will soon expand with a new anime spinoff focusing entirely on its heroines. The reveal came during One Piece Day 2025 in Japan, where fans also enjoyed updates on the live-action series.

The event featured a new look at Netflix’s live-action One Piece Season 2 and the debut poster for One Piece: Heroines. This anime adapts Jun Esaka’s spinoff novel series, illustrated by Sayaka Suwa. It tells untold stories of Nami, Nico Robin, Nefertari Vivi, and Perona.

A New Take on One Piece’s Leading Ladies

Director Haruka Kamatami will lead the project at Toei Animation. Takashi Kojima handles character designs, while Momoka Toyoda writes the scripts. These episodes explore moments and adventures never shown in Eiichiro Oda’s manga.

In the novels, Nami stars in a life-changing fashion show. Robin helps Koala and Sabo decode an ancient tablet. Vivi receives a mysterious love letter. Perona faces Zolo and Mihawk in a comical fight over the last bottle of wine. These stories add new emotional and comedic layers to the One Piece universe.

Release Date and Format Still Under Wraps

Toei has confirmed the anime but has not revealed its release window or format. It could arrive as an OVA, a mini-series, or a streaming exclusive. Whatever the format, One Piece: Heroines gives fans a rare spotlight on the franchise’s beloved female characters.
