Japanese visual novel developer Entergram announced on August 6 that the Steam release of Okayunyumu will be postponed. The game was originally scheduled to launch on the platform on August 7, following its PS4 and Switch releases earlier this year.
Okayunyumu! is a romance visual novel starring Hololive VTuber Nekomata Okayu. The game tells a slice-of-life story where you start living together with stray cat-girl Okayu after she sneaks into your house. It’s rated for ages 15 and up, with Steam warnings for some mature content.

The Japanese version of Okayunyumu! already came out on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC back in February 2025. Both English and Japanese Steam versions were set to launch today, but Entergram has pushed back the release date due to what they call “various circumstances.”
The company didn’t give specific reasons for the delay, but this isn’t the first time a Japanese visual novel has faced Steam release issues. Other games have been delayed due to bugs or pending approval from Steam’s review process. Some fans think payment processors and third parties might be affecting content restrictions on Steam, similar to what happened with the visual novel Nekopara After, which was delayed by over 40 days.

Since Entergram is calling this a postponement rather than a cancellation, they still plan to release the game once the problems are fixed. The company says it will announce a new launch date for the Steam version as soon as one is decided.
