PlayStation and Arc System Works have officially opened sign-ups for the closed beta test of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a highly anticipated Marvel-themed fighting game. The beta test will take place from September 6 to 8, 2025 (MYT) and, for now, will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 players.
Hands-On Preview for Marvel Fans

The announcement was made during the final day of EVO 2025, where PlayStation surprised fans with news of the upcoming beta. As a result, players will have an early opportunity to experience the action-packed combat well ahead of the game’s scheduled launch in 2026.
Developed by Arc System Works, the studio renowned for titles like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ, this new entry aims to bring Marvel’s iconic characters into a polished 2.5D fighter format. By blending fast-paced gameplay with striking visuals, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls looks to appeal to both competitive players and Marvel fans alike.
To participate, players simply need to register through the official PlayStation Beta Program. If you’re already part of this program—which is also used for PlayStation software testing—you just need to opt in via the beta page to confirm your spot.
Playable Content in the Closed Beta
During the beta, players will be able to choose from six iconic Marvel characters: Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Storm, and Doctor Doom. Each character brings a unique fighting style, offering a taste of the diversity that fans can expect in the full roster.

In terms of stages, the beta will feature three Marvel-inspired locations to battle in—City Center, Avengers Park, and Hell’s Kitchen—each with its own thematic flair. These maps aim to capture the essence of Marvel’s universe while complementing the high-speed combat.
As for modes, players will first be introduced to a tutorial-style Startup Battle, where they can learn the basic mechanics by fighting against CPU opponents. Following that, the beta will offer a traditional Vs. Mode for competitive matches, along with a Spectator Mode that lets players watch others battle in real-time.
All gameplay will take place within a 64-player online lobby, where players can interact and roam using Chibi-style Marvel avatars between matches. This social feature adds an extra layer of charm and community to the experience.
Release Details
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is currently slated to launch sometime in 2026, giving the development team plenty of time to polish the final product based on feedback. The game will be released as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, but it will also be available on PC, allowing more players to join the fight.

Registration for the closed beta is now available via the PlayStation’s official website here. Be sure to follow PlayStation’s official channels or keep an eye on dedicated fighting game communities for the latest news and announcements.
