This new outlet comes after the overwhelming success of Animate’s first-ever Malaysian pop-up, which opened in November 2024. Originally planned to close in May 2025, the store remained open due to strong sales and massive community support. Its final day will now be August 31, 2025.
Because of this support, Animate is going all-in. The permanent store promises more space, more products, and more joy for fans.

As seen in the pictures provided by the official Animate Kuala Lumpur account, the store is set to launch somewhere in October this year.
A Giant in Otaku Culture

Founded in 1983, Animate is Japan’s leading chain for anime, manga, and game-related goods. With over 120 stores across Japan and growing international outlets, the brand is well-loved by fans worldwide.
The Kuala Lumpur location will offer official merchandise from some of the most popular franchises, including Vocaloid, Hololive, Haikyuu!!, and many more.

Prices at the pop-up started at just RM15, making it a must-visit for both collectors and casual fans. You can expect similar affordability at the upcoming permanent location.
Whilst waiting for the Animate Kuala Lumpur Permanent store, check the Pop-Up Store before it closes. The store will remain open until August 31, 2025. Don’t miss your chance to grab limited-time goods before the full-fledged outlet arrives.
