Death Stranding 2: On the Beach released on June 26 and one month later, director Hideo Kojima shared some interesting stats about how players are enjoying his latest game. According to Kojima’s recent tweet celebrating the game’s one-month anniversary, 79% of players who finished the story kept playing even after the credits rolled.
Death Stranding 2.
It’s been a month since release. It seems many players have already reached the ending. Since all the “Someones” around the world are connected through SSS, we’re able to gather a variety of data. Apparently, 79% of “Someones” who reached the end of the story… pic.twitter.com/HgXtHsEYWC— HIDEO_KOJIMA (@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN) July 26, 2025
The game creator also shared several fun stats about player habits in Death Stranding 2. As you might expect, the assault rifle was the most popular weapon choice, while ladders topped the list for most-used tools. But some of the more interesting details show players’ softer side – kangaroos were the most rescued animals, beating out emus and wombats. When it came to placing helpful signs for other players, the “speed up” sign was used most often.
These numbers highlight one of Death Stranding 2’s key features: its unique multiplayer system where players can build structures and leave helpful tips for others, even though they’re not playing together directly.
True to his style, Kojima included some deeper thoughts in his announcement. He wrote a message to players who reached the ending: “The world today is in a difficult state. It might be hard to hold on to hope for tomorrow. But know that there is someone out there who would risk their life to protect you—Even if you don’t notice, someone is connected to you, watching over you.”
