Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have officially confirmed that Steven Yeun will voice none other than Zuko in the upcoming animated film The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.

While fans have known since March that Yeun had joined the cast, his character had remained a mystery — with many speculating he’d return as Avatar Wan, the role he previously voiced in The Legend of Korra.

But now the flames are out of the bag.

“Steven Yeun was Avatar Wan,” Konietzko told IGN during SDCC. “We loved working with him and we’re excited to have him back in the universe.”

Zuko, as longtime fans will know, is the banished Crown Prince of the Fire Nation, relentlessly hunting Aang in the original series before ultimately forging one of the show’s most powerful redemption arcs.

Could Yeun also be reprising his role as Wan? The creators stayed tight-lipped on that one — but that hasn’t stopped speculation from running wild.

Yeun joins an already exciting voice cast, which includes:

• Eric Nam as Aang

• Dionne Quan as Toph

• Jessica Matten as Katara

• Román Zaragoza as Sokka

• Dave Bautista in a currently undisclosed villain role

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender hits theaters October 9, 2026, and will focus on the beloved Team Avatar — now grown up — in a timeline set years after the original series. It’s also the first in a planned trilogy, expanding the universe far beyond what fans have seen so far.

With Yeun now confirmed as Zuko, fans can expect sparks to fly — and not just from firebending.
