The creators behind the Danganronpa series are back with a new twist on storytelling. DMM Games, in collaboration with Tookyo Games and the visionary Kazutaka Kodaka, have announced the worldwide release of SHUTEN ORDER, a multi-genre adventure game, coming to Nintendo Switch, Steam, and DMM GAME PLAYER on September 5, 2025.

The Story: Resurrection, Mystery, and the End of the World

In a dystopian world on the brink of collapse, a cult-like group known as the SHUTEN ORDER rises to power. But after their founder is murdered, the protagonist is miraculously resurrected as Rei Shimobe, though without memories and with only four days to live.

Guided by two enigmatic angels, Rei Shimobe must uncover the identity of their killer. And so begins a desperate race against time, a mystery drenched in divine riddles, betrayal, and the crumbling remains of a doomed world.

Each investigation route targets a different minister of the Shuten Order, with gameplay and story diverging accordingly. Will Rei uncover the truth, or will both they and humanity fall into oblivion?

Meet the Main Cast

Rei Shimobe – The Protagonist

Once the Founder of the Shuten Order, Rei is resurrected in a temporary body with no memories of their past or murder. Now operating under the alias “Rei Shimobe,” they go undercover as a detective to uncover the truth. With only four days before their life ends again, time is running out.

Himeru – The Angel of Urgency

One of two self-proclaimed “angels” guiding Rei. Himeru is impulsive, emotional, and often panics—but she pushes Rei forward when they hesitate. Her open disdain for the Shuten Order suggests a personal vendetta.

Mikotoru – The Angel of Reason

The second “angel” assigned to help Rei. Mikotoru is calm, logical, and highly analytical. While he provides steady guidance, he avoids answering questions that delve too deeply into the truth, adding to the mystery.

The Five Ministers of Shuten

Kishiru Inugami – Minister of Justice

Head of the Ministry of Justice, Kishiru is a quirky free spirit known as the “Ghost White Arbitrator.” Unpredictable yet sharp, he excels at conflict resolution. He’s also addicted to legal stimulants.

Yugen Ushitora – Minister of Health

Director of Shuten General Hospital and the “Gatekeeper to the Afterlife.” Outwardly warm and professional, Yugen is obsessively meticulous and fiercely protective of his younger sister.

Teko Ion – Minister of Science

Known as “The Prodigy,” Teko oversees all scientific advancement in Shuten. Despite his awkward, emotionless nature, his unmatched genius powers the nation’s most advanced technologies.

Honoka Kokushikan – Minister of Education

Nicknamed the “Conjurer of Words,” Honoka controls education and information. She’s enigmatic and manipulative, and rumors swirl about her ambitions to become the next Founder.

Manji Fushicho – Minister of Security

The “Queen of Heretic Hunting” Manji enforces Shuten’s laws with a brutal edge. She’s aggressive and unyielding against enemies, yet driven by a genuine desire to protect peace.

Ministry of Justice Route: Mystery Adventure

Step into a detective-style investigation where every detail counts. Use the “Snapping” feature to analyze suspicious dialogue and strange objects closely. Gather clues, connect the dots, and make brilliant deductions to expose the killer.

Ministry of Health Route: Extreme Escape Adventure

Enter a terrifying 3D maze filled with deadly traps and moral dilemmas. Solve life-threatening puzzles, navigate twisted rules, and survive a brutal death game. Sometimes you’ll have to fight; other times, you’ll need to cooperate, anything to escape the mysterious locked facility alive.

Ministry of Science Route: Multi-Perspective Novel

Explore a branching visual novel filled with overlapping timelines and conflicting agendas. Shift between different perspectives using a flowchart system, uncover hidden truths, and navigate complex story threads to survive until the end.

Ministry of Education Route: Romance Adventure (?!)

After being poisoned by Minister Honoka Kokushikan, Rei is lured to a mysterious school where he meets three girls, each claiming to be “Kokushikan.” To reveal the real Honoka and get the antidote, Rei must win their trust, raise Affection levels, and make a successful romantic confession.

Ministry of Security Route: Stealth Action Horror

Roam a 3D map while avoiding the relentless killer, Nephilim. Stay hidden, solve survival puzzles, and outwit deadly traps. With fear lurking around every corner, your only goal is to survive.
