PlayStation has announced new limited edition PS5 console designs inspired by the upcoming game Ghost of Yotei during a recent State of Play showcase. The special consoles feature artwork based on the game’s setting and main character Atsu.
The standout design is the PS5 Console – Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition Bundle, which draws inspiration from kintsugi, a traditional Japanese art form used to repair broken pottery with gold. This technique represents finding beauty in imperfection and matches Atsu’s story of overcoming challenges in the game.
The console designs capture the fictional world of Ezo (now known as Hokkaido) where the game takes place, with Mount Yōtei serving as a central visual element. Both the console and matching controller feature special PlayStation-shaped seals engraved on the back.
The gold edition bundle comes with a DualSense controller that has a silhouette of Atsu on the touchpad. The bundle includes the limited edition console with disc drive, the matching controller, and a digital copy of Ghost of Yōtei Standard Edition with pre-order bonuses like a unique in-game mask and seven PSN avatars.

For players who already own a PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro, Sony will sell separate console covers with the same gold kintsugi design. The special DualSense controller will also be available to buy on its own.
Jason Connell, Creative Director at Sucker Punch, explained that the design elements came from key parts of the game, including hand-drawn map icons, brushstroke effects from Sumi-e paintings, and the kintsugi style from Atsu’s Ghost mask.
