NIS America, the company that brings popular Japanese games to Western markets, has seen its profits take a big hit in the past year. The gaming publisher reported a sharp 59.4% drop in ordinary profit and a 61.3% decline in net profit for the fiscal year that ended in March 2025.
While the company’s sales only fell by a small 3.2%, the profit numbers tell a much different story. NIS America brought in 4.116 billion yen in sales but saw ordinary profit drop to just 208 million yen. Net profit fell even further to 148 million yen.

NIS America is a subsidiary of Nippon Ichi Software and specializes in bringing Japanese games to players in the US, Europe, and other regions around the world. The company is best known for publishing games from the popular Ys series and The Legend of Heroes/Trails series, which are developed by Nihon Falcom.
During the fiscal year, NIS America released several major titles including The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak, Reynatis, Ys X: Nordics, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak II. Despite having these releases, the company still struggled with profitability.
Looking ahead, NIS America has more games planned for release. Disgaea 7 Complete is set to launch in Fall 2025, followed by The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon in January 2026.
The financial results show that while NIS America managed to maintain relatively stable sales numbers, the company faced significant challenges in turning those sales into profits during the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
