Japan’s biggest indie game expo, BitSummit is getting ready to showcase an impressive lineup of independent games this summer. BitSummit 13th will take place from July 19-21 at the Miyako Messe Exhibition Center in Kyoto, bringing together developers and gaming fans for three days of indie gaming excitement.

The event organizers have announced that over 120 independent games from Japan and other countries will be featured at this year’s show. Some of the highlighted titles include Alabaster Dawn from Radical Fish Games, Cassette Boy from Wonderland Kazakiri, The Little Tomb: The Maholova Club and the Search for a Dead Body from CAVYHOUSE, Navinosuke: The YO-KAI Buster from KOHACHI STUDIO, and Never’s End from Hypersect.

Beyond the main game selection, attendees will also get to experience additional titles from sponsors and partners, including upcoming projects, hands-on demos, and exclusive content that won’t be available elsewhere.

This year’s event carries the theme “Summer of Yokai,” playing on both the 13th edition number and the supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore. The organizers chose this theme to celebrate the event’s lucky number 13 milestone.

“We were blown away by the sheer volume of outstanding submissions from developers worldwide,” said John Davis, co-founder of Japan Independent Games Aggregate, in a press release. “Choosing this year’s lineup was no easy task, but we couldn’t be more excited to showcase these games. BitSummit is about celebrating indie creativity, championing bold ideas, and bringing this incredible community together to share in that passion.”

For those who can’t make it to Kyoto in person, BitSummit will stream live coverage from its main stage on July 19 and 20. The broadcasts will be available on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Bilibili in three languages: English, Japanese, and Chinese.
