Konami has finally revealed the release date for Silent Hill f during today’s State of Play presentation, along with a brand new gameplay trailer. The psychological horror game will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 25, 2025.

Players will take on the role of Shimizu Hinako, a high school student from the town of Ebisugaoka. As fog rolls into her hometown, the familiar streets transform into a nightmare landscape where Hinako must solve puzzles and fight to survive. The choices players make throughout the game will determine Hinako’s fate – whether she finds beauty in the terror or falls into madness.

The development team built the game around the concept “Find the beauty in terror,” which led to four main design goals. First, the game recreates 1960s Japan with detailed accuracy, showing the misty town in sharp 4K visuals. Second, the art and music blend beauty with horror – monster designs by artist kera mix Japanese horror with classic Silent Hill creatures, while composers Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage created a soundtrack that fits both the time period and the eerie setting.

The third pillar focuses on puzzles rooted in psychological suffering, created by scriptwriter Ryukishi07. These challenges connect directly to the story and draw from Japanese cultural elements like scarecrows, which appear in some of the trailer’s most haunting moments. Finally, the combat system emphasizes melee fighting and action, making it more intense than last year’s Silent Hill 2.

Silent Hill f works as a standalone game, so newcomers can jump in without playing previous entries. However, longtime fans will find Easter eggs scattered throughout. Producer Motoi Okamoto says the game keeps the psychological horror core that defines the series, even with its Japanese setting.

PlayStation 5 Pro owners will get an Enhanced graphics mode that maintains visual quality while delivering stable frame rates for smoother combat. Pre-orders are now available on the PlayStation Store ahead of the September 25 launch date.
