Nintendo fans in Southeast Asia have something big to look forward to this summer. The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will be available in Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines starting June 26, 2025, according to an official announcement from Nintendo Southeast Asia.
The console is set to launch earlier in other markets, with the global release date scheduled for June 5. Recent reports show Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have already been spotted at US retail locations, with images from a Target employee showing approximately 40 console boxes secured in a locked retail cage ahead of the official launch.
The new console brings several major upgrades over the original Switch. The most noticeable change is the larger 7.9-inch screen, which offers high-definition display with support for HDR, VRR, and up to 120 fps in compatible games. When docked to your TV, the system can output up to 4K resolution for even sharper visuals.
The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with redesigned Joy-Con 2 controllers that attach using strong magnets instead of the sliding mechanism from the original Switch. These new controllers can even work as a computer mouse in compatible games. One of the biggest new features is GameChat, which lets players start online voice or video chats by pressing the C button on the right Joy-Con 2.
Nintendo promises improved performance across the board, with faster processing, better graphics, smoother frame rates, and quicker loading times. The console also features upgraded sound quality and supports 3D audio for a more immersive experience. While most markets will get the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, fans in Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines will need to wait until June 26, 2025. Pricing and pre-order information for the Southeast Asian release have not been announced yet.
