ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) continues to solidify its position as the leading gaming laptop brand in Malaysia, holding a commanding 30% market share as of late 2024. The company is now poised to achieve a milestone tenth consecutive year of market dominance in the Malaysian gaming sector.
According to Lenny Lin, Country Head of ASUS Malaysia, the brand’s success extends beyond laptops to mobile gaming, with ROG Phone securing an impressive 83% market share in Malaysia’s high-performance gaming smartphone segment.
RTX 50 Series Launch Drives Record Performance
The recent introduction of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards has generated significant momentum for ASUS ROG, with the company being among the first to launch RTX 50-powered gaming laptops in Malaysia. The pre-order campaign for these new devices became ROG Malaysia’s most successful pre-order initiative to date.
“We’re very proud to have been one of the first brands in Malaysia to launch our lineup of RTX 50 series-powered gaming laptops. In fact, it was one of the highest performing pre-order campaigns that we’ve ever had here at ROG Malaysia,” Lin explained.
The new lineup includes three key models targeting different market segments:
ROG Strix SCAR represents the pinnacle of gaming performance, featuring Intel Core Ultra 9 processors, up to 64GB RAM, 4TB SSD storage capacity, RTX 5090 laptop GPUs, and 18-inch 240Hz MiniLED ROG Nebula HDR displays.
ROG Strix G offers similar raw performance in a more understated design, equipped with Intel Core Ultra 9 processors, RTX 5080 laptop GPUs, and 18-inch ROG Nebula displays with 240Hz refresh rates.
ROG Zephyrus G16 targets portability-focused gamers, weighing under 1.95kg while incorporating RTX 5090 laptop GPUs, Intel Core Ultra 9 processors, up to 64GB memory, and 16-inch 2.5K ROG Nebula OLED displays with 240Hz refresh rates.
Expanding Product Ecosystem
Beyond laptops, ASUS ROG is positioning itself as a comprehensive gaming ecosystem provider. The company offers gaming peripherals including mice, keyboards, headsets, controllers, backpacks, and gaming chairs under the ROG brand.
“We want our gamers to have the best experience when gaming, and we feel that they can get everything they need for that all from ROG, be it your laptop, your gaming mouse, your keyboard, headset, controller, backpack and even your gaming chair – all of that can be had from Republic of Gamers,” Lin stated.
For desktop users, the ROG G700 prebuilt gaming system combines Intel Core Ultra 9 processors with RTX 50-series graphics cards, designed for ease of use and future upgradability.
The portable gaming segment includes the ROG Ally handheld series, with the ROG Ally X featuring doubled battery life and storage compared to its predecessor. Additionally, the new ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet incorporates AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processors and serves as a Copilot+ PC for AI applications.
AI Integration and Future Accessibility
The RTX 50 series integration brings advanced AI capabilities to ROG devices, including DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation technology. Popular titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, Alan Wake 2, and Marvel Rivals support or will support these AI-enhanced features.
“With these new RTX 50 series laptop GPUs, they’re able to offer gamers cutting edge AI-powered features such as DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation, which use AI to improve the gaming experience,” Lin noted.
Additionally, for non-gaming applications, RTX 5090-equipped devices deliver 1,824 TOPS of AI performance, supporting local AI model development through NVIDIA NIM microservices and AI-assisted creative workflows.
Looking ahead, ASUS plans to expand its accessible gaming offerings with the recently launched ASUS Gaming series, including the Gaming V16 and Gaming K16 models. These devices aim to bridge portability and performance while maintaining affordability for mainstream gamers. The company has not disclosed specific details about future ROG Ally successors but confirmed ongoing development efforts to enhance the gaming handheld experience.
