Virtuos, a leading global game development company, has officially launched its new studio in Seoul, South Korea, marking a significant expansion of its presence in the world’s fourth-largest gaming market. The strategic move aims to enhance collaboration with Korean game developers and publishers, with whom Virtuos has been partnering since 2009.

The Seoul studio will focus on delivering creative and design capabilities while serving as a liaison between Korean clients and Virtuos’ worldwide network of development studios. The company has already established strong relationships with more than half of South Korea’s top 10 game studios, contributing to successful titles including Crossfire, Dave the Diver, PUBG, and Stellar Blade.

Industry veteran Seunghwan “Sean” Yoon will lead the new studio as General Manager, bringing 20 years of gaming industry experience from previous roles at Kabam and Webzen. Yoon’s international background across Asia, Europe, and North America positions him well to facilitate cross-regional collaborations.

“Gaming is deeply ingrained in Korean culture,” said Yoon. “Establishing a physical studio in Seoul enables Virtuos to directly address the unique challenges faced by Korean studios, with the proximity facilitating closer co-development and collaboration. We look forward to helping bring more Korean games to the global stage and vice versa.”

The core team at Virtuos Seoul includes Development Director Kyungjin Lee, who brings over 20 years of multidisciplinary game development experience, along with Senior Business Development Manager Sangwon Suh and Executive Producer Wang Yufang, both with a decade of expertise managing client partnerships in South Korea.

This expansion aligns with Virtuos’ broader strategy of becoming a “glocalized” game development powerhouse. The company has recently expanded into Europe and North America through acquisitions of studios including Abstraction, Pipeworks Studio, Umanaïa Interactive, and Third Kind Games.
