Suikoden Producer Shares Mainline Aspirations, 108 new stars in STAR LEAP Unlocked via Story

According to Noisy Pixel, Suikoden series producer Rui Naito recently shared new comments about the franchise’s future in a Bloomberg article. The team remains eager to bring Suikoden to as many audiences and fans as possible. Recent announcements suggest expansions into various media, including a manga, anime, stage play, and mobile game. There has even been discussion about a Suikoden adaptation in Hollywood if it is possible to have the IP pitched there.

When asked about the future of the mainline series, Naito expressed a desire to expand beyond where Suikoden left off, hinting at the possibility of additional remasters worth keeping an eye on. However, nothing has been officially confirmed.

No Gacha For Suikoden STAR LEAP Characters

Regarding the upcoming mobile game Suikoden STAR LEAP, Naito expressed hopes of bringing the game to other platforms in the future. He also confirmed that there will be no gacha mechanics, and players will be able to recruit all 108 Stars (main characters) simply by playing through the story.

Microtransactions in the game will be limited to recruiting characters from other games and unlocking optional features designed to speed up progression or enhance gameplay.

Naito also highlighted that many of the original developers from the first two Suikoden games are still at Konami, ensuring that STAR LEAP’s story stays faithful to the series. He also shared his ambition for Suikoden to expand into a franchise that could compete with other major AAA titles.
