Cardcaptor Sakura Coming to INCUBASE Arena Malaysia

Malaysia is set to host the first-ever Cardcaptor Sakura exhibition in Southeast Asia. The Cardcaptor Sakura Exhibition: The Enchanted Museum will be held at INCUBASE Arena Malaysia, an anime cultural experience hub located in Fahrenheit88, Kuala Lumpur.

The exhibition follows its successful original run at Tokyo’s Mori Arts Center Gallery from October 2018 to January 2019. Visitors can look forward to exploring nearly 200 original illustrations and exclusive exhibits in a space that has been “enchanted” by Sakura herself, transforming the venue into an immersive magical experience.

Cardcaptor Sakura began life as a manga series written and illustrated by the manga group CLAMP, which was serialized in the shojo manga magazine Nakayoshi from June 1996 to August 2000. The series was later adapted into an anime by Studio Madhouse in 1998, spanning 70 episodes through 2000, along with two feature films, before continuing with the “Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card” series. Through various international dubs, the series became a mainstay in many millennials’ childhoods.

According to the manga’s English publisher Dark Horse: “Fourth grader Sakura Kinomoto finds a strange book in her father’s library – a book made by the wizard Clow to store dangerous spirits sealed within a set of magical cards. But when Sakura opens it up, there is nothing left inside but Kero-chan, the book’s cute little guardian beast… who informs Sakura that since the Clow cards seem to have escaped while he was asleep, it’s now her job to capture them!”

While exact dates for the exhibition have not yet been announced, it will likely follow INCUBASE Arena Malaysia’s currently ongoing Kamen Rider exhibition, which ends on March 9th.
