Square Enix has announced that the global version of “Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius,” a popular free-to-play RPG, will cease operations on October 30, 2024. This decision marks the end of an eight-year run for the global version, while the Japanese version of the game will continue to operate. Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius initially launched in Japan on October 22, 2015, for iOS via the App Store and Android via Google Play, followed by a worldwide release on June 30, 2016.
In their official statement, Square Enix expressed gratitude to the players and explained that they decided to end the service due to difficulties in maintaining the app experience. The company’s spokesperson stated, “We’ve strived to provide an incredible and enjoyable gaming experience for our players every day that could exceed the day before. However, we’ve come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue maintaining the app experience.”
The closure will proceed according to the following schedule:
- August 29, 2024: Official announcement of service end and immediate cessation of Lapis (in-game currency) and bundle sales.
- October 30, 2024, at 23:59 (PDT): End of app service.
Players can continue to use their existing Lapis until the service ends. Square Enix has assured players that they will continue to plan in-game events until the final day of operation, allowing fans to enjoy new content in the game’s twilight period.
It’s worth noting that after the service concludes, all player accounts will be deleted. The development team emphasized their commitment to providing an enjoyable gaming experience until the very end, encouraging players to continue their adventures in the world of Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius global version for the next two months.
