On recent news, Tencent had made a 5% stake in Ubisoft which resulted in a deal that plans to release a few Ubisoft games on mobile in China. Game titles that supports multiplayer and have eSports potential like Tencent’s recent release on the mobile, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile, will be priority.

Based on a press release by The Esports Observer:

“Tencent manages the largest online games community in China and one of the largest, most active social networks in the world, so this deal should help us dramatically increase our games’ exposure and engagement in China,” Yves Guillemot, CEO and co-founder at Ubisoft said in a press release.

“We’re first looking at games in genres that have proven successful in China. So, we’re starting by considering games with multiplayer elements and esports potential, and also games with RPG mechanics.”

Based on the statement above, there are a couple of games that came to mind. Games like Rainbow Six: Siege and For Honor are highly competitive in the market and can be seen successful in China’s market. Some of Ubisoft’s multiplayer games like The Division or Ghost Recon might also be selected for a mobile port, however they lack the competitiveness compared to the first two mentioned.

It may be too early to say it, but let’s keep watch over what Tencent and Ubisoft’s collaboration have in stored for mobile gamers.
