Konami Digital Entertainment has announced upcoming physical releases of Contra: Operation Galuga for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.

As part of a collaboration with SUPERDELUXE GAMES, the company will be releasing physical copies of Contra: Operation Galuga for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, slated for 5 September 2024.

Pre-orders for the physical copies will be available to order starting from 23 May 2024 on the game’s official website.

For the uninitiated, Contra: Operation Galuga is a reimagination of the classic NES and arcade cabinet Contra series from the 1980s, now redeploying players back to the Galuga Archipelago.

In Operation Galuga. players will take control of elite Contra commandos Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, as well as other warriors, to battle the Red Falcon terrorist group.

An assortment of iconic firearms are available at the player’s disposal such as the Spread Shot, Laser Beam, and Homing Missiles, as players run, jump, and shoot their way through various biomes like the dense burning jungles, frigid mountains, grotesque alien lair, and many more.

Aside from weapons, each character also has their own unique abilities and Overlord powers, and the game comes with multiple game modes, including Story Mode (1-2 players), Arcade Mode (1-4 players), and Challenge Mode (1 player), with a variety of difficulty settings and perks to choose from.

Not only is the game modernized with effects-laden graphics, but it also features an ensemble voice cast that includes Steve Blum, Alejandro Saab, Angelita Esperanza, and Kira Buckland.
