BEKRAF Game Prime 2017 which happened last year had left a mark in history for the Indonesian game industry. There were more than 13,000 attendees from across Indonesia and Southeast Asia during the three-day conference and exhibition. With that, it has made BEKRAF Game Prime 2017 not just Indonesia’s biggest game industry event but also one of the top class game industry event in Southeast Asia!

Now that it’s back again, this year 2018, the Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (BEKRAF) will be collaborating with IDEA Network and Indonesian Game Association (AGI) to make this year’s event bigger and better. Just like last year, it will be three days long which will be held on one Business Day on July 13th in Ayana Midplaza Hotel, and two Public Days (July 14th and 15th) in Balai Kartini Expo Hall, Jakarta.

During the first day (July 13th), all of Indonesian and international game industry’s stakeholders will be gathered at the BEKRAF Game Prime 2018 to share their knowledge and build a network for future collaboration. There will be sessions held by the local and international experts to cover a variety of topics as well.

While during the two Public Days (July 14th and 15th), gamers from everywhere will be gathered to play over hundreds of games showcased at the booths available on site. There will be local companies who will showcase their latest products along with over 50 Indonesian indie game developers sharing as well. Games will not be the only entertainment as there are also VR, Board Games, Toys, Cosplay performances, Artist Alley, eSports competition and much more during the two day event.

To continue the tradition of BEKRAF Game Prime, a Game Prime Awards will be presented as a form of appreciation to some of the best Indonesian game developers who made a hit in the year. This is to show appreciation and motivate them to help the industry accelerate faster in the coming years.

As for the theme, this year’s theme is “Gaming: Evolved” as a representation of the fast-evolution of the gaming industry trend in the world. AppAnnie and Newzoo stated that Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR) and eSports are the future of the game industry according to a survey they have conducted. Thus the BEKRAF Game Prime 2018 aims to be the benchmark for Indonesian and Southeast Asia game industry to help compete and dominate the global market.

“Indonesia has a huge market and it will be such a pity if we do nothing to optimize it,” said Monica Kansy, Chief of Event and Community Officer of IDEA Network. “Basically, we have short and long-term goals. In short terms, we aim Game Prime to be a perfect platform for developers to showcase their products and improve their skills. As for the long term, we aim to change people’s mainstream mindset.”

“We want to prove that games are not always bad. In fact, gamification might be very close to our life in the future. For instance, games can make education more fun and easier to be learned by students. Some companies also have used games to introduce their company policies to their employees. Who knows what else games have in store in the future?”

BEKRAF Game Prime 2018 highlights the indie game showcase which aims to be the a place for Indonesian game developers to show their latest projects, to get a better media exposure and get direct feedback from users. This will help the industry to grow and improve for the better to be recognized and compete in the global market.

Currently registration of BEKRAF Game Prime 2018’s Indie game showcase is open for every Indonesian game developer. Games or projects can also be submitted along and be curated later to get to the top 50. These top 50 games will get a free booth to exhibit their game during the two Public Days (July 14th and 15th).
