We all know Fortnite: Battle Royale by Epic Games will have a mobile port for the iOS and Android. The game that will be coming for mobile soon will also be able to play across platforms between PC, Android, iOS and Xbox One but not PS4. This was stated in an official post by The Fortnite Team which did not include PS4.

After years of battles to bring cross-play of games that are available on other platforms from PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch, PS4 was almost never included in them. Though Microsoft has been trying to encourage the adoption of cross-platform play to connect players from PC, mobile and all consoles, they have always failed to bring PS4 into the picture.

This has something to do with Sony themselves. Sony has dodged plenty of occasions where games are all ready for cross platform like Rocket League which was already playable across Windows 10 and Xbox One but not with PS4. In a statement for Gwent, the card game from the Witcher series, CEO Marcin Iwinski said, “Microsoft already confirmed Gwent’s cross-play feature not only between Xbox One and PC, but also other consoles if they allow it. All we need is a green light from Sony.” But till date, Gwent players from Xbox One and PS4 are still walled off from each other.

Now we don’t know if Fortnite: Battle Royale will be receiving the same fate. As Epic Studios accidentally allowed cross-play between Xbox One and PS4 last year September, they later fixed the issue and mentioned that they had a problem with the configurations. Though we know that Fortnite has the capability to play across platforms AND PS4 now, the question is, will Sony continue to hold their side of the wall?
