THE ONE PIECE, a remake of the anime series was announced during Jump Festa 2024.
The teaser trailer showed off an animator using the first volume, ROMANCE DAWN – The Dawn of the Adventure as a reference.
THE ONE PIECE remake is said to be done by WIT STUDIO, and the series will be starting from the East Blue arc as celebration for the anime series’ 25th anniversary.
However, not much other details regarding the remake have been announced, such as when the series will be airing or which other arcs will be featured.
The original One Piece anime series was first released back in 1999 which might be a hard series to pick up for newer fans, so this remake would be the perfect medium for both new and veteran fans to explore or re-visit the massive One Piece Universe.
Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the One Piece series shared his thoughts about the remake:
“This project is a project to redesign the animation of One Piece as a modern image. In a different line from the series that has progressed with the Toei for 25 years.
I hope to see you with a new feeling. This is the case. The release is still far away, and it is a long and long project that will take longer to finish, but with new friends WIT Studio and Netflix, fans from all over the world, as well as in the future, we can deliver it to the new generation that touches One Piece, so we will do our best with the All One Piece team. I’ll do it!”
