It looks like Cult of The Lamb is getting “The sex update” after all, following a social media campaign to be studied for years to come.

This week, the Cult of the Lamb Twitter account decided to take the requests by the horns with a gambit- get the game’s account to 300,00 Twitter followers by the end of the year and a Sex Update would be in the works.

“Oof, that only took 2 hours”, the concession tweet reads. “Looks like we are adding Sex to Cult of the Lamb. Let’s aim for the very beginning of 2024!”

It should be pointed that in the days since the tweet was made the account has made well over 100k new followers- presumably all interested in seeing the cultists get freatky.

This all started with the announcement of the next expansion for Cult of the Lamb titled Sins of the Flesh- given the raunchy name and key art which features unclothed animal people dancing around a fire, people naturally assumed that things would get freaky in the cult.

Back after the announcement the game’s community manager assured that while fans had labeled it “The Sex Update” no such content would be in the game- until today.

Earlier this week, even publisher Devolver Digital got in on the joke, asking about why their inbox was full of request for inter-species mating.

“Uncomfortable amount of people asking in email if the cult animals are gonna F each other”, a tweet from them reads.

Whether or not this was always the plan, just with the added steps of building social media engagement or not will likely be unclear for the rest of our lives, but it speaks to the popularity of Cult of The Lamb.

Gamalytic reports the game as having sold over 2 million copies on Steam alone, with an overwhelmingly positive review score on the same platform.

While it’s unlikely to be anywhere near as raunchy as games like Baldur’s Gate 3, the internet has clearly won this one- it’s just unclear if “The Sex Update” will actually be a part of Sins of the Flesh or come later.
