Ubisoft has made an official announcement that The Division 2 is in the making! Following their success in the first Division, they are making a sequel of the game. Following their weekly State of the Game live-stream, they have also revealed two new patches for the first Division.

“It wasn’t an easy decision. There are so may stories and so many experiences we want to explore within the Division that we really thought a sequel was the best way to investigate these things,” said the game’s creative director, Julian Gerighty, on a live stream.

The team at Ubisoft had already started working on the main concepts for the new game within a month after the first Division launch. There are a couple of development studios that are working together on the game with a development team lead by Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Shanghai. Fans would also be glad that Ubisoft Sofia, the studio behind Assassin’s Creed Rogue and Assassin’s Creed Origins, will be part of the development team.

But that’s not all the news they were giving out. The original Division will also be getting two new patches, 1.8.1 and 1.8.2, which Gerighty joked to call them Strawberry and Parsnip. In the “Strawberry” update, they will be reworking the Legendary difficulty for Missions Amherst and Grand Central. The update will be launched for the PC and Xbox One X patch in April. While the “Parsnip” update will add a feature called shields which will be challenges that will unlock content in The Division 2. 

It is unclear when The Division 2 will be launched but based on their live-stream, they will be showcasing the game at this year’s E3 this June.
