Kannagi Usagi Is A Free To Play Sekiro-Like Starring A Bunny Girl

For years people have been figuring out how to improve on the souls-like formula, and the answer that Kannagi Usagi provides has been “add bunny girls”.

The game is a free-to-play boss rush inspired by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, featuring the title’s signature poise-based combat and focus on dodging and countering.

It’s developed by Tonoji, and appears to be the Steam debut for the developer.

Gamalytic reports the game as having gained 118,000 downloads since its launch on November 3rd.

Kannagi Usagi even wears it’s inspiration on its sleeves, with similar UIs down to the kanji for signifying unblockable attacks that players need to jump away from to evade.

That being said, don’t expect it to replace Sekiro entirely- on a combat level, it’s more focused on the posture-breaking aspects of the title, and your bunny girl doesn’t have any of the Shinobi gadgets that make up the former title’s scramble-esque combat.

There’s also no exploration sections, with the entire game instead focusing on its various bossfights, all with different difficulty ratings.

Whether you’re new to the Souls genre or not, it’s a pretty good taste test for the combat formula- though not as polished, a lot of the same fundamentals are there, such as reacting to boss attack patterns and exploiting openings.
