If you haven’t heard, apparently there are people circulating a cracked version of Final Fantasy XV for the PC. The game that is slated to be out later at 1 am on STEAM will be priced at RM 219.00. It might have been expensive for those who lack the spare change, but is it right on your conscience to support piracy?

Though the game was cracked by the infamous Chinese cracking group 3DM who was able to crack the game, it wasn’t because they could crack Denuvo’s encryption. It was because the EXE file from the demo was not Denuvo encrypted that allowed 3DM to be able to crack it. Origin’s carelessness for not remembering to encrypt their preload on the demo also contributed to 3DM’s crack success.

However, 3DM were only able to crack it up to Chapter 3 while there were others (someone from Reddit) that could crack it further decrypting it up to Chapters 9. The game currently can load and run fine though it’s not an actual crack. DLCs don’t work on the version and since then, Origin has also updated its preload files. So players will still need to buy the actual game to play through the end and DLCs.

Nonetheless, downloading the cracked version is not advisable as we do not condone to piracy. The public netizens need to understand that we get paid for our efforts in the industry. With piracy, it does not help the developers get paid. How would you react if you were part of the team that developed the game and due to piracy, there were no returns; no profits to pay for the project and the team? You wouldn’t want that to happen to yourself, would you if you were in their shoes?
