[IEM Sydney 2023] Intel 14th Gen Processors Aim to Elevate eSports Gaming 

Thanks to Intel, we were invited to attend Intel Extreme Masters (IEM), where not only did we get to witness some Counter-Strike 2 action but also Intel‘s latest 14th Gen Processor Chips on showcase.

While in Sydney, we got to check out Intel’s showcase at the SXSW Sydney Tech Expo, where all of the manufacturer’s latest 14th Gen Processor, Arc Graphics Cards, and collaboration with other brands are on display.

14th Gen Desktop Processor 

As of 17 October 2023, Intel released a processor chip that is widely considered the fastest in the world right now – the Intel Core 14th Generation desktop processor family, led by the Intel Core i9-14900K.

Now, Intel has a focus on supporting more eSports and competitive gaming, which is why they are lending their newest processor for the ESL Counter-Strike 2 tournament.

Gamers these days not only play, but also record their own gameplay, stream live, and chat through Discord or other communication tools. Meanwhile, the more dedicated gamers would even load a YouTube video or their favorite streamers at the side, in search of guides to practice their gaming skills such as lineups, character builds, and more.

Intel seems to understand what gamers want nowadays, a stronger processor that is capable of handling multiple background software, thus they answered this problem with the new 14th Generation Processors.

Impression

Here at the SXSW Sydney Tech Expo, multiple computers were set up with the Intel Core i9-14900K and installed with the freshly launched competitive shooter, Counter-Strike 2.

To experience the power of the processor, I hopped into a match of Deathmatch in Counter-Strike 2, and the feel was immediately distinguishable. Frames were processed smoothly and allowed for a seamless experience where I was able to jiggle peek in swiftness or flick my shots accurately against opponents, especially against the AWP-wielding snipers. An absolutely thrilling experience for shooter fans.

Another game I got tried out is Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the latest in Ubisoft’s history meet stealth series. Again, immediately, the visuals popped up and looked stunning, with many minute details quite noticeable.

That said, however, certain newly released games are still not well optimized to be running with the new Intel Core 14th Generation Processor series. Games such as Armored Core VI and Starfield seem to have been reported to be crashing while running on the new processors.

Of course, the processors are still relatively fresh on the market and it takes time to have everything settled down, including optimizations through updates. With this much power in hand, the future of gaming seems bright with the Intel 14th Gen series.

Sparkle Intel Arc A750 Graphics Card

Aside from the new CPU, Intel also showcased the Sparkle Intel Arc A750 Graphics Card, built into computers with 14th Gen Processors.

The showcase displayed the computer running the recently released Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Capcom’s latest fighting game venture, Street Fighter 6, with no sign of distinct drops in frame rates or resolutions.

Take to the Skies

Computer components aside, Intel has also collaborated with Airspeeder to elevate eSports racing to the next level. The Airspeeder is an electric vehicle series and it is equipped with Intel Core Processors, resulting in the simulation controls being a lot more efficient.

This collaboration aims to guide trainees on the art of piloting an aircraft safely before flying the real thing up to the skies. Marked to be the future of eSports, Intel’s processors are said to shape competitive gaming to maximize its appeal to racers and fans alike.
