Team MAG Shares Which Dota 2 Heroes That They Want To Be Competitive Viable In Interview

The Asia Pacific Predator League 2024 Malaysia Qualifiers for Dota 2 had just concluded, with Team MAG being crowded the winners, taking a 3-1 victory against Dota Hero.

Following their win, we had the opportunity to speak with Chan “Lonely Chucky” Kok Khin, Denise “Wonder’boy” Danial Bin Abdullah, Ho “Candyloon” Wei Loon, Loyd Yoong “LOyd” Binjie, and Pang “ponyo” Sze Xuan in an interview. 

Winning the Malaysia Qualifiers

The first question we asked Team MAG was how did it feel to win the Malaysia Qualifiers for the Asia Predator League 2024.

“We felt happy and proud to be able to represent Malaysia and I can say technically we are the best in Malaysia for now.” said Lonely Chucky. 

Asia Pacific Predator League 2024

The next question we asked was are there any particular regions that they’ll excited to face in Manila next year?

To which, Lonely Chucky replied on behalf of Team MAG, saying that they would love to face off against the Filipino teams, considering they’ll be the crowd favourites.

Ursa, Treant Protector & Grimstroke

During the finals match against Dota Hero, Team MAG had 3 reoccurring heroes present in their drafts: Ursa, Treant Protector, and Grimstroke for Games 1,2, and 3. We asked Team MAG what was the thought process of prioritising those three heroes.

“We think that those three heroes are the patch heroes and they are very strong and we really don’t want to fight them as well. So meaning that we don’t want the enemy team to pick. So if they don’t ban them, we just pick them.” 

Heroes That Should Be Buffed/Nerfed

We asked Team MAG what they think about the current meta, and which heroes do they think should be buffed or nerfed.

Lonely Chucky replied by saying that Phantom Assassin should get nerfed because during the third game against Dota Hero, Phantom Assassin had been unstoppable which caused them to lose the game.

In terms of buff, Lonely Chucky mentioned that there’s not a lot of heroes that needs to be buffed, however he did mention that he would personally like to see Medusa being buffed a little bit more because the hero is really weak in this patch.

Heroes Being Competitive-Viable 

Another question we asked the team was which heroes do they personally want to be competitive-viable.

“I think maybe Windranger should be played more in tournaments.” said Wonder’boy. 

“I want to play more Intelligence carry heroes, but there’s not a lot of Intelligence carry heroes right now. So there’s no specific hero but just Intelligence.” said Lonely Chucky.

As a final question, we asked Team MAG if they had any last words they would like to say as Malaysia’s representatives for Asia Pacific Predator League 2024.

“We are proud to represent Malaysia and we will be ready for the finals in Manila.” said Lonely Chucky.
