Warner Bros. Discovery announced that its latest run of the Hanna-Barbera classic, Tom and Jerry will be set in Singapore and will debut this August.

The new Tom and Jerry cartoon series will be comprised of seven 3-minute-long shorts and is set to premiere on Cartoon Network in Asia Pacific regions and on HBO GO in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong before being rolled out to the rest of the world.

The new series will be Warner Bros’s first-ever localized Tom and Jerry, produced in Asia with involvement from 2 Singapore-based animation studios – Robot Playground Media and Chips and Toon Studios, which both handled the stories and designs of the show.

Aum Animation Studios, an India-based studio is also involved in the project and is handling animation duties.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s Carlene Tan is helming the project as producer and Vivek Bolar serves as its lead director.

“This series brings back the iconic music and classic animation style from the Hanna-Barbera 1950s era – but with a modern Singaporean twist.” said Christopher Ho, Head of Kids, Southeast Asia at Warner Bros. Discovery.

“With distinctive landmarks, backdrops and atmosphere, the Asian city-state is the ideal location to create a humorous addition to the Tom and Jerry canon.”

The new Tom and Jerry series set in Singapore will premiere its pilot episode in August with no specific date announced yet.
