A new overview for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was showcased at the recent PlayStation State of Play showing more of each character’s moveset, more of the game’s overall plot, and that the game will have live service aspects including a battle pass.

Two trailers were shown at the State of Play, an ‘Official Co-Op Gameplay‘ trailer and a ‘Behind the Scenes‘ trailer where the developers of the game give an overview of the various features of the title.

In The Behind The scenes trailer, Rocksteady founder Sefton Hill confirms that Kill The Justice League will take place in the same universe as their previous Batman Arkham games and specifically five years after Arkham Knight. The plot sees Metropolis invaded by Brainiac who has now brainwashed The Justice League. Amanda Waller then sends in the Suicide Squad to clean up the mess, including taking out the League members.

Hill goes on to say that after spending so many games looking at the world from Batman’s perspective, they now wanted to make a game from the viewpoint of villains.

They also go over the character of the four playable characters and their different playstyles. King Shark for example will be the tank of the group, being able to take more damage and being better at melee attacks. I will say it is a bit odd that Captain Boomerang seems to fight more using a gun than he does with you know, his boomerangs.

The game is a 1-4 player co-op shooter experience and is made with multiplayer in mind however you can partner with an AI if you’d prefer to play on your own in a single-player. Playing in single-player will also allow you to switch between each character on the fly.

Rocksteady has also said that there will be live service elements in the game and they will continue “supporting the game after its launch. We’re gonna deliver lots of new content to our players. We’re gonna have new playable characters, new weapons, and new missions. They have also confirmed that there will be a battle pass for cosmetic items.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will launch on May 26th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
