Fans have erupted in cheers as Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom (UMVC3) has been announced as part of the EVO 2023 main stage lineup.

Announced at a livestream today, the line up consists of other EVO regulars such as Tekken 7 and Guilty Gear Strive, as well as being the debut tournament for titles like Street Fighter 6 and the sophomore appearance of Melty Blood Type Lumina.

Each of these tournaments would also be receiving a 25,000 USD prize pool.

They also confirmed that EVO 2023 would take place from August 4th to August 6th this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UMVC3 is a legendary game for the FGC, having been kept alive for the community years after Capcom dropped support for the title.

Former Marvel vs Capcom 2 champion Justin Wong even tweeted his thanks to Pokimane, jokingly implying she brought the fan favorite back to EVO’s main stage.

“Thank you [Pokimane]  for bringing back UMVC3, Tier 3 sub from me”, he tweets.

He and many other players also echoed a common sentiment: thanking the community for having kept the iconic series alive through their own events, such as one that saw an elderly couple compete in Pools.
