United International Pictures Malaysia has released an all-new trailer for the upcoming horror movie Scream VI, emphasizing that the series’ iconic killer Ghostface will be way more dangerous than we’ve ever seen him before.

Scream VI, as you can imagine is the sixth entry in the Scream franchise and the sequel to last year’s movie Scream (2022) (which they decided not to call ‘Scream 5’ despite every other entry having a number, now including its sequel).

They are a series of Slasher mystery movies about a killer known only as Ghostface. The franchise is known for its heavy meta-commentary on the horror genre, constantly referring to popular horror titles and pointing out the tropes and cliches one must avoid to survive in one. Scream VI is posed to be the most brutal film yet, taking the killings from sleepy suburbia to New York City and now showing Ghostface using a shotgun for the first time.

The film also seems to be at least somewhat themed around the legacy of the Ghostface persona, which is used by a different killer in each film. We briefly see in the trailer that they have a shrine to the Nine other Ghostface that have preceded them.

Scream VI is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett who previously directed Scream (2022). The cast includes many returning characters from the previous movies including Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and Wednesday star Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter. Here is the full list:
