The new Slam Dunk movie titled ‘The First Slam Dunk’ will be coming to cinemas in Malaysia on the 23rd of February 2023.

The movie is being distributed by Odex and will be exclusive to GSC cinemas across the country.

The First Slam Dunk is an adaptation of the popular basketball anime/manga Slam Dunk by Takehiko Inoue (who also made the manga Vagabond). It will be the first new entry in the series since the original anime ended in 1999.

The movie covers The match between Shohoku and Sannoh Secondary Schools. The film, however, can still be watched on its own even if you haven’t seen the previous series and is meant to act as an introduction to the setting and characters.

The First Slam Dunk is a co-production between Toei Animation (who made the original Slam Dunk Anime Series) and DandeLion Animation Studio (Miss Hokusai, Pingu In The City). It will also feature the opening theme ‘Love Rockets’ by The Birthday.

The First Slam Dunk will premiere in cinemas across Malaysia on the 23rd of Malaysia.
