For you to have the greatest visuals to grace your eyes, you need to have a great monitor to do justify your PC’s hardware. The HyperX Armada 25 monitor will want to take that honour, but can it meet expectations?

MINIMALISM

The HyperX Armada 25 sports a minimalistic design, being black throughout, highlighting the white HyperX logo. I’d expect a large monitor like this to be really heavy to lift, but it’s actually much lighter than its peers at 2.9kg. The flat screen monitor is 24.5-inches, but it can still be installed quite comfortably for smaller or narrower places as it comes bundled with a high quality and durable desk mount. It definitely needs to be durable, as the entire weight of the monitor pretty much rests on it.

Looking over the back of the monitor, there are some large ‘patterns’ that flow from the top center to each corner of the monitor for the smooth black, the weight itself also black serving to further highlight the HyperX logo. Where you might expect monitors to use plastic, the HyperX Armada 25 is of metal make, capable of supporting up to 9kg.

The desk mount is quite nifty, seeing as it comes with wire ‘containers’ so that you can keep your work space neat. The desk mount allows for rotating it 360 degrees, and is fully adjustable! While the monitor isn’t too heavy, the desk mount is relatively hefty in comparison but is still easy to install, requiring only a screwdriver to screw on the bar. Insert some Grommet mounting plates onto the bar, and you’re ready! Connecting the monitor to the desk mount can be done with a unique feature called quick release.

You will be getting a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution screen with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz and 1ms response time; from that alone you can expect a really clear display, with minimal tearing. Additionally, the IPS panel means more accurate and consistent colours. Sure, it’s primarily meant for gamers, but it will definitely be well suited for those who need to do any editing work for photos or videos.

You get 178 degree viewing angle, so there’s much to enjoy when it comes for the viewing experience. That’s not forgetting the NVIDIA G-SYNC 4 support, which will allow taking advantage of that 240Hz refresh rate for the best visual quality possible. Colour-wise, you have 100% sRGB and 75% DCI-P3, so it’s pretty respectable. 

Game wise, I feel that it’s hard to show the actual quality of the shots without seeing them in motion, but nonetheless, a variety of games got tested with the highest available settings. When it comes to competitive titles such as Valorant, the difference between 144Hz and 240Hz is very tangible. It’s important you get to see things clearly even as effects may explode everywhere, and this monitor knocks it clean out of the park.

OSD

Within the OSD, it comes with some presets, with a whole slew of colour and picture options, running the whole gamut including brightness, contrast, black level and more. Additionally, there’s a comprehensive game menu for you to tweak the panel’s settings as you need it. Things you might find interesting include:

VERDICT

Well, the HyperX Armada 25 monitor is assuredly very suited for competitive gamers thanks to the high refresh rate and response time. Performance and design wise, there’s pretty much nothing to complain about. Granted, you can nitpick with it only having FHD support, and doesn’t output audio. Besides that, it’s the price that can be considered quite brutal, though with its specs and it getting bundled with a desk mount, it seems fair enough.

By all means, if you’re looking to upgrade your monitor and have some cash to spare, you can’t go wrong with the HyperX Armada 25.
