After an electric battle at the ESL One Malaysia 2022 grand final, The European Team OG has officially won the lower bracket, lifting the coveted trophy in a LAN environment.
OG’s win capped an intense week of high-level Dota as 12 of the world’s best teams attempted to outmaneuver one another. OG went through a tough series against China’s Team Aster, resulting in a clean sweep in a clinical fashion.
Their teamwork and experience helped OG with the final ESL One Malaysia match and ultimately allowed them to walk home with the grand prize of $175,000 USD. Even the unexpected patch before the second day of competition could not derail the team as they put their theory crafting into practice.
Following the win, OG’s Yuragi, bzm, ATF, Chu, and Taiga were relaxed and greatly satisfied with the results. “It was definitely a great LAN experience for us with the hype SEA crowd. We were not expecting a patch during the tournament. The patch made us revisit our strategies and revise our game plan within a short period of time. It was a test of our agility to adapt in a competitive environment,” said OG.
Team Aster, consisting of Monet, Ori, Xxs, BoBoKa, and 皮球 (pí qiú) leaves ESL One Malaysia 2022 as runners-up with $85,000 USD. Their fighting spirit was on full display with many close-call team fights, including an aegis steal and a rampage for Monet in game two of the grand final.
Taking home third place following the lower bracket final best-of-three is Team Secret, Crystallis, Nisha, Resolut1on, Zayac, and Puppey, winning $45,000 USD, while home crowd favorites Fnatic comprising Palos, Armel, Jabz, DJ, and Jaunuel placed fourth with a prize pool of $25,000 USD.

ESL One Malaysia 2022 welcomed over 15,000 Dota 2 fans over the three days of main stage action at the Arena Of Stars in Genting Highlands, Malaysia as teams battled for a share of the $400,000 USD prize pool.
It was the first international esports tournament held in Malaysia in four years. Gaming enthusiasts ensured the tournament had a rapturous welcome and helped put Malaysia on the esports map.
