Mobile Suit Gundam character Char Aznable has shown that revenge against the Zabis isn’t cheap- seemingly taking an ad deal to promote McDonalds in Japan in what can only be assumed is a fundraising effort.

In the commercial, The Red Comet is seen promoting several Char themed burgers- such as the Red Teriyaki as well as the Spicy Double Cheeseburger and the most Char-like food of all- the Newtype White Triple Cheeseburger (it has three times the beef, you see).

As far as ads go, this is pretty up there in production quality: Shuichi Ikeda reprises his role as Char with full dramatic gusto, talking about how the Triple Cheeseburger has the same aura as ace pilot Amuro Ray.

It even features new animations, all done in the style of Gundam: The Origin, as Char holds various Mcdonalds items and probably thinking about how their calories are not weighed down by gravity.

Sadly, it looks like this ad only exists for distribution in Japan, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still admire the mad effort that went into it.

Despite the grim nature of Mobile Suit Gundam, this kind of product placement isn’t out of place, especially with Char- the character has also previously promoted Toyota via the Zeonic Toyota campaign, complete with fellow Newtype Lalah Sune.
