It was announced at the June 2022 Capcom Showcase that Resident Evil Village will be getting a rerelease called Resident Evil Village Gold Edition which will feature a new collection of DLC called The Winters’ Expansion.

The DLC Expansion, which will also be available as DLC for original versions of Resident Evil Village, and Gold Edition will release on the 28th of October 2022.

The Winters’ Expansion will include three new additions to the game:

The Mercenaries

There will be a series of new Mercenary Mode Missions that will allow you to play as new characters like Chris Redfield, Heisenberg, and the domineering Lady Dimitrescu, shanking poor souls with your claw-like nails and slamming them into the ground.

Third Person Mode

You’ll be able to play through the entirety of Resident Evil Village from a Resident Evil 2 Remake style over-the-shoulder third-person mode. You’ll now be able to see the back of Ethan’s head while playing, perhaps we’ll even get to see his face (which they conveniently never showed in the trailer)

Shadows of Rose

The final piece of DLC is a new story campaign. Shadows of Rose takes place after the events of Resident Evil Village and stars Ethan’s daughter Rose who must struggle with the terrifying powers that she is born with. She attempts to be free of her powers by entering the consciousness of the Megamycete (the psychic fungus seen throughout RE7 and 8). This will take her on a new journey with a girl that looks exactly like her (Evelyn?).

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and The Winter’s Expansion will be available on the 28th of October 2022
