In a digital event for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, a whole host of teasers were showcased, from the new Switch Skill Swap mechanic to Hinoa and Minoto joining you on the adventure!

As previously reported, the massive expansion to the game is slated for a 30 June 2022 release. The details of the digital event can be roughly summarized as follows:

• New Monsters
  • Seregios, shedding sharp scales known as “Bladescales”. Attacks can inflict the “bleeding” status. Watch out when it gets Enraged!

• • Aurora Somnacanth, subspecies that releases a perpetual cold air to freeze things around it, slides around on the ice to attack. Trades the regular species’ sleeping breath for an ice one

• • Magma Almudron, subspecies residing in the Lava Caverns. The red hue indicates it’s in a special heated state, tail magma can be used to attack

• New Monster Actions
  • Aknosom has backstep and somersault attack
  • Tigrex can combo from a bite into spin attack
• Malzeno
  • The flagship monster, an elder dragon that has brought Fiorayne’s kingdom to the brink of ruin many times before
  • Commands mysterious creatures to capture monsters and absorb their energy
  • Can grasp monsters (and you) with its tail, fly into the air and throw them down, a forward snapping attack, a breath attack, and bursts the ground from under you to knock you back
  • Inflicts “Bloodblight” status. Succumbing to this makes a hunter enter a battle of life force with Malzeno which you’ll need to overcome to survive
  • Absorbing a hunter’s lifeforce can give it a new form
  • A vampire motif, with aristocracy, nobility, grandeur and cunning in its overall design
  • Scarlet Feast – Malzeno is its theme song

• Follower Quests
  • Take story characters to hunt with you
  • SINGLE PLAYER ONLY
  • Each have their own weapon specialization, recover your health, place traps and may even ride monsters
  • Unlock more as you advance through the game
  • Elgado Followers: Fiorayne, Luchika, Jae, Admiral Galleus, Master Arlow
  • Kamura Followers: “Several characters” in addition to Hinoa and Minoto
  • Can earn exclusive rewards
• New Hunter Actions
  • Switch Skill Swap: 2 Loadouts can be set in advance. Combo Silkbind attacks and get synergized effects
  • New Silkbind skills
  • Swap Evade
  • The Switch Skill Swap is meant to provide more creativity, freedom to Sunbreak

• Tweaks
  • Wall run without Wiredash
  • Can choose to ride or keep attacking a monster when in mountable state
  • New keybind options

• Upcoming schedule
  • Intro videos and Switch Skills for weapons start 16 May
• DLC, etc.
  • Physical copy owners can purchase Sunbreak digitally, no digital copy of Rise required
