Kerbal Space Program 2 video highlights interstellar travel

The developers of Kerbal Space Program 2 revealed their thoughts on adding interstellar travel to the game in a new video on YouTube. At just under 15 minutes long, the team at Intercept Games highlighted the scale and the complexity it takes to include said feature into Kerbal Space Program 2.

Described by physics engineer Dr. Michael Todd as “sitting on the earth and trying to aim a bow and arrow at the moon,” the distance and precision required for interstellar travel is something that the mind of a regular person will struggle to grasp. The Intercept Games developers have a monumental task of translating this concept in such a way that players can understand while still being as close as possible to the science.

However, the team is taking the challenge well, as seen in the video. The team consulted writer Paul Gilster, author of Centauri Dreams on the concepts and philosophy in understanding and crafting interstellar travel. The feature video also covers in-depth details on the brand new travel systems, details about various propulsion engines, and even the team’s desire to fix the infamous physics glitch from Kerbal Space Program 1, affectionally called “The Kraken”.
