Games Journalist Jeff Grub said on his podcast show GrubbSnax that the developers of the upcoming Dead Space remake have pushed back its’ release window from late 2022 to early 2023.

“It is now likely coming in 2023. It is no longer targeted for October, instead, they are now targeting early 2023,” Grub says.

The game is a remake of the original Dead Space by Visceral Games, being developed by Canadian developer Motive Studio who had previously worked on Star Wars: Squadrons.

Publisher EA has not officially announced a release window for the Dead Space remake however Grubb has previously stated that he heard from an internal source that the game would be aiming for an October 2022 release, but now says it has been pushed back to next year.

“They never said anything publicly, this was just my reporting saying internally what they were trying to do, and now they are not trying to do that, they are trying instead to go for early 2023″

He further says that the internal delay is not due to any development trouble but rather because the team needs more time to focus on the game and make it as good as possible.

“They want to make sure this [Dead Space remake] is very good because if it comes out and it’s a success it lays the groundwork for future success. A Dead Space remake has a really high ceiling in terms of how it could sell.”

Motive Studio will be holding a developer live stream for the game on March 11th at 10:00 am PT (March 12th, 02:00 AM for MYT).

The Dead Space remake will release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC and will likely release sometime in 2023.
