Shaymin now available in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond

Shaymin the gratitude Pokemon is now available for a limited amount of time in the generation 4 remakes Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

It was revealed during the February 27th Pokemon Direct that players will be able to gain the item ‘Oak’s Letter’ via the mystery gift service. The item will only be obtainable until the 27th of March though so get yours quickly.

To access mystery gift, simply go to the mystery gift option on the game’s menu when you start the game. From here, select that you would like to receive a gift via the internet. This should give you the ‘Oak’s Letter’.

Once you obtain the item, it functions the same as in the original games. You meet Professor Oak on Route 224 where you will gain access to a new area covered in flowers. On the flowery hillside, you will meet Shaymin and have the chance to battle and catch it.

The Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl announcement however did not have any mention of sky form Shaymin, which was only available in Pokemon Platinum. In that game, you could get a Gracidea to change Shaymin’s forms if you visited Floaroma Town with it. Perhaps you can do that again in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl however this is currently unconfirmed.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available for Nintendo Switch. They are remakes of the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS.

The Pokemon Direct also announced the latest games in the Pokemon series, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
