Kohei Horikoshi says My Hero Academia May ‘Meet Its Goal’ in 1 Year

My Hero Academia has been a central shounen manga and anime for the past few years, however, according to series author Kohei Horikoshi, the series may ‘Meet its goal’ by next year.

In a message written for Jump Festa ’22 and read out by Daiki Yamashita, the voice actor of Izuku Midoriya in the anime, Horikoshi said the following:

“If HeroAca (My Hero Academia) continues to progress smoothly, in just about exactly a year from now it will meet its goal… that’s the situation. If it doesn’t go smoothly, I think Yamashita-Kun will be reading out the exact same letter from me at next year’s Jump Festa.”

While we do not have exact confirmation of what Kohei Horikoshi meant by ‘meet its goal’ but many have taken it to imply that the series may be coming to an end. This is in line with previous statements by Horikoshi who had said earlier this year in March that the series had entered its ‘final act‘ as of chapter 306 of the manga.

The My Hero Academia anime has been ongoing for five seasons, and three movies, with the latest film in the franchise, My Hero Academia World Heroes’ Mission releasing earlier this year.

It has been confirmed that the sixth season of My Hero Academia will premier next year.
