South Korea-based indie developer ProjectMoon has just announced Limbus Company, its new RPG for Android, and is scheduled for a launch sometime in Winter 2022. As part of the announcement, we are treated a trailer which showcases its theme song performed by vocalists of Japan-based groups Mili and MYTH ＆ ROID, respectively.
The game is described as a guilt resonance cruel RPG that will be set in an unnamed city split into 26 districts. Said districts have their own unique culture and technological advancements. The user will take on the role of a prison manager tasked with overseeing prisoners who are to collect Golden Boughs hidden throughout the city. Of course, the mission is not as straightforward as it sounds, and you will be facing off against many abnormalities. To survive, you will have to deploy various strategies in its turn-based and real-time hybrid battle system.
The City
A metropolis of corporate nesting
Our massive City is divided into 26 Districts, each unique in its technological advancements and culture. No two Districts are alike! For example, in whatever Nest you (our wonderful new manager) may be staying, it might be considered common courtesy to make sure no food is wasted. However, the Nest right next to yours could just so happen to believe that it is a virtuous act to throw leftovers at the poor, as to let the destitute enjoy some sort of feast. When traveling, it’s recommended that you read up on the customs and taboos of each Nest before visiting.

A dungeon awaits at the end destination of each of our missions. From there, we can enter and explore a mental space manifested from a resonation with the Golden Bough. Its shape depends on the sinner it resonates with, and the deeper into the abyss of the ego you venture, the more warped the space will become. Everything will go back to normal once you find and retrieve the Golden Bough resting somewhere within the space. But until then… well, we can only hope that endlessly roaming about an unending hell is to your liking.
