Universal Studios Japan and The Pokémon Company revealed plans on Thursday to create new Pokemon attractions at the Japanese theme park, with similar experiences planned for other Universal parks around the world. The announcement builds on a partnership that began in 2021, when the two companies first started working together. Since October of that year, Universal Studios Japan has featured Pokémon content including parades and special shows. The new project represents a significant expansion of these offerings.
According to the announcement, Universal Studios Japan will be the first location to receive these new Pokémon experiences. After launching in Japan, Universal Destinations & Experiences will bring Pokémon attractions to other Universal parks globally. Specific details about what these experiences will include and when they will open have not yet been shared.

Mark Woodbury, Chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, highlighted the popularity of the Pokémon franchise and the companies’ continued partnership. “The Pokémon Company is one of the most beloved interactive franchises in the world, and through our ongoing partnership, we will continue bringing its vibrant world to life in new and innovative ways for years to come,” he said.
Tak Murayama, Executive Vice President and General Manager of USJ LLC, described the project as a “bold new global project” that will create “unprecedented and innovative experiences” with the franchise. He emphasized that the experiences will be designed to exceed guest expectations.
The timing of the announcement coincides with Pokémon’s 30th anniversary in 2026. Tsunekazu Ishihara, President and CEO of The Pokémon Company, noted this milestone and expressed enthusiasm about the project. “We aim to create theme park entertainment that surprises and delights fans around the globe,” Ishihara stated.
