Top Twitch Streamers Earnings Reportedly Over $700k In September With The Twitch Affiliate Program

A massive leak from Twitch has been published online, showing the monthly earnings of streamers part of the Twitch Affiliate Program.

These include the payouts from September 21, as well as the earnings form the past year as a result of perks from Twitch Affiliateship such as subscriptions and Bit sales (Twitch’s own currency).

According to the leak which was verified by VGC, the top earning Twitch channel in September was xQcOW, the popular Canadian Overwatch streamer. In the report, he was quoted as having made USD 752,467 in September.

He’s at a sizeable lead over the second highest earning streamer in the month, summit1g who clocks in at USD 362, 987. Summit1g is a streamer known for playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

It wasn’t all esports streamers though, as more popular names were also on the list such as World of Warcraft streamer Asmongold as well as entertainment streamer Cr1TiKaL (of meme fame).

This information only included earnings from the Twitch Affiliate program, and doesn’t include things like donations as well as merch sales, so it’s not fully indicative of how much top Twitch streamers actually earned.

Interestingly enough the leak also includes a report on Twitch payouts over the past two years, tallying from August 2019 to October 2021. On this metric the number one spot goes to popular D&D podcast Critical Role, hosted by voice actor Matthew Mercer.

According to the report, the channel made USD 9.6 million, to xQcOW’s USD 8.4 million in the same time frame.

The Big Takeaway

While the obvious first takeaway would be the sheer amount of money you can make while streaming, the disparity between two streamers next to each other on the list is another good lesson- that it’s very much not a sure bet since it very much will depend on the kind of following you’ll have.

While a lot of the streamers on this list play popular games like CS:GO and Valorant, it’s interesting to see the streamers who operate in more niche circles, such as Asmongold and Maximillian, who represent MMO players and the Fighting Game community also make the big list.
