The Game Awards 2025 revealed its winners during last night’s ceremony, with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive emerging as the biggest winner of the evening among the various nominees.
The turn-based RPG took home multiple major awards, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best RPG, Best Independent Game, and Best Debut Indie Game. Jennifer English also won Best Performance for her role in the game. This marks a rare achievement for an independent title to sweep so many top categories at the awards show.

Other notable wins from the ceremony include Hollow Knight: Silksong taking Best Action/Adventure and composer Christopher Larkin winning Best Score and Music for the game. Hades II from Supergiant Games won Best Action, while No Man’s Sky claimed Best Ongoing Game after years of continued updates and support.
In the multiplayer space, Arc Raiders won Best Multiplayer, and Battlefield 6 secured Best Audio Design. The family gaming category went to Donkey Kong Bananza, while Mario Kart World took Best Sports/Racing. Fighting game fans saw Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves claim its category’s top prize.

For adapted media, The Last of Us: Season 2 won Best Adaptation. Grand Theft Auto VI remained the Most Anticipated Game despite its ongoing development. In the esports categories, Counter-Strike 2 won Best Esports Game, Chovy (Jeong Ji-hoon) was named Best Esports Athlete for League of Legends, and Team Vitality’s Counter-Strike 2 squad took Best Esports Team. MoistCr1TiKaL was recognized as Content Creator of the Year.
