Developer Shift Up has reportedly begun early development work on a Nintendo Switch 2 version of their hit action game Stellar Blade, according to industry sources, though the company maintains that nothing has been officially confirmed.
According to gaming industry reports, Shift Up recently acquired an official Nintendo Switch 2 developer kit and has started initial development work. The kit includes unreleased APIs, testing software, and debugging tools that allow developers to test hardware capabilities and work on platform-specific optimizations.

The move would represent the next step in Shift Up’s multi-platform expansion strategy for Stellar Blade. The game originally launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in 2024, earning praise for its combat system and high-quality graphics. It later expanded to PC in June 2025, where it introduced advanced features like DLSS 4 and FSR 3 upscaling technologies, ultrawide monitor support, and uncapped frame rates.
This combination of solid technical performance and active community support helped Stellar Blade achieve impressive numbers for a single-player game, reaching 180,000 concurrent Steam players and selling over 1 million copies within just three days of its PC launch. The platform also saw rapid growth in user-created mods, including custom outfits, map modifications, visual effects, and various fan creations that expanded the game’s appeal.

When asked about the Switch 2 development reports, a Shift Up representative stated: “Nothing has been confirmed regarding Stellar Blade’s Nintendo Switch 2 development. We are keeping various possibilities open and are in the internal review stage.” Additionally, Shift Up reportedly provided Nintendo Switch 2 units to approximately 300 employees company-wide to celebrate Stellar Blade surpassing 3 million sales.
