Square Enix has asked players not to share videos or images from the end of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake for at least a month after launch, with warnings that the company may issue takedown requests for content that violates these guidelines.
In an official notice posted on the Dragon Quest website, the publisher outlined guidelines for sharing videos, live streams, and images from the game, which launches on October 31. The most significant restriction asks players to avoid streaming or posting content from after the second credit sequence in Dragon Quest II until November 29, 2025.

While Square Enix did not explain the reason for this request, it suggests there may be new content at the end of Dragon Quest II that was not in the original version. The company wants to preserve this as a surprise for players during the game’s first month. Square Enix has previously confirmed that the remakes will include new content, such as new characters, additional dungeons, and an expanded story.
The guidelines also request that players include spoiler warnings for major plot developments and state that videos or playlists containing only cutscenes or music are not permitted.

“Square Enix Co, Ltd permits its fans to share certain images and gameplay videos of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake online so long as these Guidelines are adhered to,” the notice states.
Players are also asked to include a copyright notice on videos, except on microblogging sites like X. The notice should state that the game materials are jointly owned by Square Enix and other co-owners, and that the music copyright belongs to Sugiyama Kobo Co, Ltd. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC starting October 31.
